HMRC have announced that CDS will be unavailable on Saturday 14th December 2024 from 21:30 to 23:30 for scheduled maintenance, to implement CDS release 4.6.1.
The release will introduce changes that will impact some declarations; an overview is provided below, along with a link to the guidance released by HMRC. Any declarations that arrive after the implementation of release 4.6.1 that do not follow the guidance will be rejected on arrival, including pre-lodged declarations.
Changes in CDS release 4.6.1:
- Enables claims to be made for preference under the terms of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, which will come into force on the 15th December 2024.
- Changes to document code Y100, ahead of changes to the process for claiming RPA quotas.
- A new tax type is being introduced for electronic smoking devices that do not attract excise duty.
The HMRC guidance details the changes and includes declaration completion instructions. If these changes affect you, it is important that you follow the new guidance to prevent your declarations from being rejected on arrival.
The full guidance can be found here.
