REMINDER: CDS Removal of Waiver Document Code 999L - January 2024

HMRC-Logo

Further to our news article published in October 2023, please be reminded that waiver document code 999L is being permanently removed from CDS for use on import declarations after 31 January 2024.

HMRC published new national waiver document codes to the UK tariff several months ago, and these should be used instead of 999L when submitting import declarations.

After 31 January 2024, use of the 999L waiver document code will result in the declaration being rejected. Any pre-lodged import declarations made before 31 January 2024 that arrive after this date will also be rejected unless the correct waiver document code has been supplied in place of 999L.

Continued use of 999L in the above circumstances will result in delays for your goods at the border. Please refer to the Trade Tariff to identify which codes you should use in place of 999L.
