CDS Exports - HMRC Migration Deadline

You have until Tuesday 4 June 2024 to move exports to CDS

HMRC have announced that declarants have until Tuesday 4 June 2024 to move their export declarations to CDS.

After this date, HMRC will remove CHIEF system badge permissions. This means declarants will no longer be able to submit new export declarations using CHIEF. Declarants will still be able to view and amend declarations submitted through CHIEF using HCI and EDI interfaces once the ability to make new declarations is removed.

For exporters now making all declarations through CDS, HMRC have published additional guidance to support the move to CDS for exports. The full guidance can be found here.

Traders who have not yet commenced submitting declarations via CDS should begin as soon as possible to ensure a smooth migration.

A limited exceptions process will be available from 1 May 2024, only in circumstances where an HMRC IT functionality issue is preventing migration. Traders will need to apply for an extension in this case; exceptions will not be granted for any other reason. The full information and guidance about the limited exceptions process can be found here.

HMRC have published a checklist for declarants and a webinar will be held on Thursday 25 April to support traders with migration of exports to CDS:
