HMRC has issued a communication regarding future customs infrastructure arrangements at the Sevington and Holyhead Inland Border Facilities (IBFs).
The key points to note are:
- Sevington Border Control Post (BCP), where Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) checks are undertaken, is not affected by this change and will remain operational
- The planned transition away from government-funded IBFs has always been part of HMRC's longer-term strategy
- There are no immediate changes to current customs arrangements or requirements
- Traders, hauliers and intermediaries should continue to follow existing processes, including attending the Sevington BCP/IBF for any required checks, exactly as they do today
Please note that this announcement is not related to the Government's EU Reset discussions or any new policy changes.
