From January 2021, fish, shellfish and their products originating from the EU have been subject to additional sanitary and phytosanitary import controls. Importers of most fish and fishery products from the EU need to ensure they submit illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing documents to the port health authority in advance of the consignment’s arrival. We have been made aware of consignment of such products that have been not been notified to Mersey Port Health Authority. When submitting documents, we would ask that you add “EU IUU” to in the subject line, along with the relevant container number.
To ensure compliance, we will now be conducting surveillance checks on fishery imports from the EU. Can all agents please ensure that the necessary documentation is submitted to the authority prior to the arrival of the vessel. Charges for the checks will be
